Local Law Enforcement
Approximately fifty vehicles have been covered with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the German municipality of Hanau near Frankfurt, police confirm law enforcement.
Vehicles, building surfaces and postboxes were marked, in some cases with swastikas, they stated in a statement.
Officers say they were alerted in the late hours on Wednesday evening, when a man discovered that a automobile in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been covered with a reddish substance.
The fluid had been applied in the form of a swastika, they reported.
Officers then discovered many other smeared automobiles and house walls in the surrounding area.
These symbols are banned in Germany under legislation prohibiting the public exhibition of Nazi symbols.
Officials state early analysis indicate the liquid was most likely human blood.
"Currently there is no clue as to its source; investigators are currently not aware of any injuries in relation with the event," they commented.
City officials announced they were working "to solve the case" and have requested to the public for details.
A high-ranking political figure stated the vandalism left him speechless and required to be solved quickly.
"This incident strikes at the center of Hanau and revives the pain of the right-wing attack five years ago," he posted on social media, recalling the killing of nine people by a gunman focusing on people of migrant background in February 2020.
